The Irish Dance Invasion is one of the most remarkable dance performances of the Millennium. Instead of a traditional evocation of Ireland’s traditions and historic past, it elaborates the new generation’s most special and most mundane experiences simultaneously, and highlights the temptations of drugs and the inebriety of everyday life. The performance develops a new and unique genre for the stage by intertwining elements of Irish and Hungarian dance, music and prose theatre.

Ronan Morgan and Steven Scarriff are show’s choreographers and also solo dancers. Before visiting Budapest, the dancers performed in the ‘capitals of showbiz.’ As members of Michael Flatley’s company, they performed in Las Vegas, on the Broadway in New York and on the West End in London, as well as in number of other theatres with great histories, such as Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Royal Albert Hall, Radio City Music Hall and the Kreml in Moscow.

Mairéad Nesbitt and Tibor Kasza composed the piece’s music. Mairéd Nesbitt is the violin virtuoso of the “Feet of the Flames” and the “Lord of the Dance,” who received the title of “Traditional Violinist of the Year” this year. Tibor Kasza and is the singer of the band ‘Crystal,’ who not only won every possible professional award with his band last year, but also received the Emerton prize “The Composer of the Year” in the category of pop music.

The magical company already demonstrated on several occasions the extraordinary capabilities of Hungarian dancers – when it comes to Irish dance, mesmerizing both the Hungarian and the international representatives of the dance world.

The show was directed by Róbert Alföldi. Although Alföldi is best known for his drama theatre performances, the Irish Dance Invasion is another detour after the Cabaret and Gounod’s Faust.
