Credit Lyonnais

The concert took place at the Pesti Vígadó on October 13th, 2003 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Muráthy-Teleki-Crédit Lyonnais Palace’s renovation and the Credigen Bank’s 5th anniversary. Les Préludes by Ferenc Liszt and Fantastic Symphony by Hector Berlioz were performed in the event. The concert was also recorded to CD.
Both pieces generously reveal a whole series of auto-biographical details. Liszt and Berlioz mutually knew and admired each other. They met in 1830 in Paris, the night before the first performance of the Fantastic Symphony. The next day, in the concert, “each member of the audience noticed the way in which Liszt applauded the performance, and expressed his enthusiasm.” (Berlioz: Memoires).

The Symphonic Orchestra of the Hungarian Radio and Television / Budapest Symphonic Orchestra
The Symphonic Orchestra of the Hungarian Radio and Television – which is called by the name “Budapest Symphony Orchestra” out of Hungary and on certain recordings – was founded by Ernő Dohnányi in 1943. Since its foundation more than half a century ago, it has acquired a place among the most reputable orchestras thanks to the numerous national and international concerts, as well as CD and radio recordings comprising the whole range of the repertoire of symphonies and oratories.
